Saturday night we celebrated Christmas with Kevin's family out in Peoria. It was so much fun!! It was activity after activity... all of which kept the kids happy. First up, the kids made their own mini pizzas for dinner. While the adults enjoyed take out from Macayos, the kids feasted on their creations. YUM!
The first activity after dinner was playing the chimes. Each of the kids got a numbered chime and a striking stick. Sharon pointed to each number as the kids tapped along. The first attempt was not great, but by the third song we could actually recognize what they were playing.
Grandma Johnson was able to convince most of the grandkids to participate in the Nativity. Kimble was super excited to play the donkey (after all, it is almost like a horse). Our camel, Karter, on the other hand was not as cooperative. All the kids looked so cute and did a great job.
The time Kimble was waiting for all day had finally come... the gift exchange. We all got such great gifts. Kimble and Karter have not stopped playing with their new toys.
We took the kids on a "hayride" through the neighborhood. The kids all enjoyed singing as loudly as they could to spread some holiday cheer. Although we only saw two people outside, we had a good time and realized that we don't really know the words to carols we have heard all our lives.
After returning from our caroling trip, Santa made an appearance with gifts for the little ones. Kimble and Karter were a little afraid (they didn't realize it was Kevin under the suit) and only went up to get their present. Koltyn was not afraid one bit!
The kids are now even more exctied for Christmas to come!
