Kevin's Birthday

Yesterday was Kevin's birthday and the kids were excited. Kimble and Karter were more than happy to make him some cards and cupcakes while he was at work. Koltyn was content to hang out in the "game chair" (really a camping chair) munching on a graham cracker. They were great helpers!

When Kevin finally got home from work, he opened a couple presents, admired the cards from the kids and then posed for a quick picture. We were all ready to eat so we headed over to Red Robin for some super yummy dinner. We also stopped by Marshall's and Home Depot to let Kevin do some shopping.

Happy Birthday Kevin!! We are so grateful for all that you do for our family. We are so grateful for the fun that you bring when we are having a bad day. We are grateful for the love that you are always willing to share.

Our Garden's Bounty

This is just some of what we have plucked from our spring garden. Kevin has spent a lot of time watering the plants, especially on hot afternoons. We have yet to make anything with the tomatoes, only the zucchini (fried zucchini and zucchini bread, yum). For our second time planting a garden, we got a pretty good crop of veggies, with more growing.

Birdhouses

Monday afternoon I was able to tear Kimble away from the X-Box long enough to do a craft project with Karter. She has been asking for a birdhouse for a while, so I bought a couple, from the dollar section, last time I was at the craft store. She was so excited and enjoyed every second of painting time. Both kids decided that mixing their paint colors made the house look even more spectacular. Of course, as soon as she was finished, Kimble was back on the X-Box. Well, it was fun while it lasted!

Random Camping Pics

Last weekend we headed north for the annual Stewart family camping trip. There is a free camping area near Willow Springs Lake that we take full advantage of every year. Although the temperature was not as cool as we would have liked (but at least NOT 110), it was so nice to be able to relax and take things slow. It's amazing how not having a schedule makes the day so much better.
Not long after arriving at the camp Friday, Koltyn fell down and was covered in dirt. He was basically a ball of dirt every day. We had to give each of the kids a wipey bath each night just to keep up with the mess. Koltyn also fell in some rocks during one of our walks, scraping up his forehead. Poor guy!

Kimble and Karter were loving the hammocks. They spent as much time in them as possible. It seemed that their goal was to swing it higher and faster than anyone else.

We drove back to the lake a few times to let Kimble and Karter try fishing. Kimble was so determined to catch a fish and was extremely disappointed when she came up with nothing. We had to drag her away from the lake, she would have stayed out there all day if we let her. Karter was content to simply sit on the rock and wait, at least for a few minutes at a time.

Another great trip with the family is in the books. Now, we get to look forward to Utah with the Johnson family in a few short weeks and an Oklahoma wedding in July.

Splish Splash

Since my sister was watching my nephews and niece over the holiday weekend, I decided to take the kids over to play with their cousins. There is a great park near my sister's new house that has an awesome splash pad... free! So we lathered up the kids with sunscreen and headed over. Koltyn and Sophie were the first to really get into the water, while the older kids enjoyed the covered playground. They all eventually ended up wet for the car ride home though. So fun!
