Memorial Day 2009

Yesterday we got to go swimming and celebrate Memorial Day in Peoria. Kimble always talks about swimming at Grandma and Grandpa Johnson's house and yet, she only stays on the steps. Karter was not real interested in staying in the pool. The floating hippo kept him in for about a minute. Kevin finally decided to get in after seeing everyone else enjoying the cool water and helped Karter shoot hoops.

Koltyn and I enjoyed our time outside of the pool. Maybe we can join in the fun next time.

We all enjoyed a great meal, celebrated Keith's birthday and spent a little time watching The Bachelorette together. We finally headed home after 9 o'clock, leaving Kimble and Karter behind... they are spending a few days with grandma and grandpa!

One Week

Koltyn is now one week old! So far he has been a great sleeper and definitely loves to eat. Kimble and Karter have been super helpers. Kimble likes to help with the bottles and Karter always makes sure that Koltyn has a blanket (especially the green one that is just like Karter's favorite blue one). He is such a sweet addition to our home!!

Congrats Lara

Thursday night my little sister, the baby of our family, graduated from Mountain View High School. I was so sad that I couldn't be there (but at least I didn't have to sit out in the rain). Last night my parents had a party to celebrate her accomplishment and I made sure to make it. Way to go Lara!!

Bonus, we got a picture of Koltyn and Sophie together. They are exactly two months apart by age. But when it comes to size, they are just about the same.

He Was How Big?

What a crazy Monday morning! Kevin and I arrived at the hospital at 5am, ready to welcome our baby boy at 7am. Just as I was about to receive my spinal block we hear, "Dr. Mott isn't coming!" That meant that my doctor didn't have an assistant and we would have to wait for Dr. Scott to arrive in about 30 minutes. So, I got back off the operating table and waited in a wheelchair for the new assist to arrive, what a long 30 minutes that was! He finally made it and so did our baby boy. At 8:02am we officially welcomed Koltyn Jay Johnson into our family. The news I was not prepared for was his measurements: 10 pounds, 8 ounces and 22 inches long!! I knew that I looked huge and now I have evidence of why.

My sister was able to bring the kids Tuesday night and they had polar reactions. Karter came right in, hopped onto the arm of the chair and took a good look before trying to push the bassinet around the room. Kimble, on the other hand, wanted nothing to do with the baby or myself. She clung to her horse and didn't want to leave Heather's side. Since we have gotten home, Kimble and Karter have both been great with the baby and both have helped give Koltyn a bottle or two. I am bummed we couldn't get a family picture at the hospital, but I am sure they will loosen up soon and we can get one then.

Kevin was a great help in the hospital, until he had to go home Wednesday afternoon with a stomach bug. I felt so guilty that I wanted him to stay even though I knew that he would be more comfortable at home. Kevin was just afraid of getting the baby sick and needed to get some sleep on an actual bed again. Luckily, he was able to come back Thursday morning to bring us all home.

(Having balloons for the kids in order to get them in the car helped.)

Let The Countdown END!

In less than 24 hours we will should be holding our precious baby Koltyn! Our countdown chain is down to the last link and Kimble is not so sure about Mommy not having Koltyn in her tummy anymore. Karter still just doesn't follow what is going on and Kevin can't wait to have a mini vacation from work. I have so many different emotions right now: excited to be done with pregnancy and to meet our little one, but totally worried about how my body will handle another c-section. Per Jessica's request, here is the last picture I snapped of my pregnant self (last week). Considering the fact that I measured 41 weeks at my last appointment, I know that I look HUGE and I feel it.

Luckily, I have a wonderful husband who was willing to clean the house yesterday from top to bottom! I took the kids to my sister's house in Gilbert, we borrowed my parent's carpet cleaner and off he went. From cleaning behind the fridge to dusting the lamp shades in our bedroom and scrubbing all the bathrooms, he did a fantastic job. All I had to help with was some laundry and dishes. It is so nice to know that when we get home from the hospital our home will be super clean and uncluttered, at least until the kids get bored.
We'll try to post while we hang out at Banner Desert for the next few days, but if we aren't able to, look for a post later this week!

Mom's Day 2009

This weekend was full of family. Saturday, we headed over to Peoria bright and early so that Kevin could go to the lake with his brothers and dad. His parents recently purchased a boat and Kevin has been so excited to get out on the water. Kimble and Karter didn't need any water to enjoy exploring all the boat had to offer.

When the boys got back from their expedition, all the girls got to have lunch without the kids or husbands. We enjoyed our girl time at BJ's (where we were given free champagne glasses for Mother's Day- champagne not included) before a trip to Babies 'R Us. Kevin's family was so generous to buy us some of the items we were still in need of for the baby. We are so grateful for their help!

Sunday was a pretty relaxed day. We watched a couple movies, went to church, tried to get a picture with the kids and had dinner at my parent's house. I was even able to get my mom and sisters together for a Stewart Girls picture. We took one last year on Mother's day and I really wanted to get one again. Thanks for giving in to my picture demands ladies! Happy Mother's Day!!
