Happy Halloween...

...from Princess Peach, Mario and Luigi!!

Halloween {johnson style}

Yesterday we made the drive to Peoria once again for the annual Johnson Halloween party. We met at a very cool park in Grandma & Grandpa Johnson's neighborhood. While we were waiting for the Halliburtons to arrive, the kids ran up and down this hill about a thousand times (okay, maybe not quite that many).

After a yummy lunch and letting the kids play at the playground, we all made the very short drive to Grandma & Grandpa Johnson's house to get dressed in our Halloween best. First, we took individual pictures of each of the kids. Then came getting them to all sit together. Ahh, the annual Johnson grandchildren Halloween picture. It is definitely getting a little harder every year to get a decent picture of all the kids together.

After pictures, the kids headed up the stairs for some trick-or-treating practice. They ended up going to four rooms upstairs and then three more down stairs. They had a great time and did an awesome job of making sure every one got their candy before moving on to the next door. Even Koltyn picked it up pretty quickly, once he saw what was being dropped into his bucket.

The kids really did not want to leave, but we were off to our ward's trunk-or-treat and we didn't want to be too late. But we did have a great time with our family while it lasted!

Down on the Farm

We were lucky enough to visit Schnepf Farms with the Johnson family Saturday afternoon. They made the long trip over from the west valley to have a little fun at the farm.
Our first stop was the Bumble Bee ride. The line was crazy long, so while I waited with Kimble and Karter, Kevin took Koltyn over to the petting zoo. It looks like he enjoyed the goats the most.

Hailey and Kimble were so cute riding together on the bumble bee. They directed their bee to the very top and left it there for the entire ride.

We stopped for a quick family picture before getting in line for the airplane ride. Obviously, we picked the wrong spot to take a picture. Kimble and Karter were both mesmerized by the ride instead of looking in the direction of the camera.

After riding the airplanes, the kids went down the tall slide and then we went over to the pedal cars. We had to go in a couple shifts, but we all got a chance to ride our way through the course. It was lots of fun and definitely a workout.
The kids wanted to see the animals up close at the petting zoo. Kevin was able to find a couple quarters in my wallet to get some feed for Kimble and Karter to give the sheep and goats. Koltyn hung out in the stroller (snacking of course) since he had already visited with the animals.

We watched the pig races, explored the pumpkin patch and played a round of mini golf before heading home. We were all worn out after having a super duper fun time at the farm!

Birthday Lunch with Grandma

Saturday we were invited over to Kevin's grandma's house in Mesa to have lunch with her in honor of her birthday (84th, we think). His parents had gone over earlier in the day to help her clean her garage and wanted everyone to come by to visit. We had a nice talk with Grandma, gave her a photo card with current pictures of the kids & their ages, and snapped a photo with her before leaving. Happy Birthday Grandma (Johnson) Schlink!

Koltyn was still taking his nap when we went outside the first time. So we went back out when he woke up...

Fall Break {2010}

MONDAY
Today we went down to one of the neighborhood parks. It was the closest one to our house, unfortunately it is not really toddler friendly. I was worried about Koltyn the entire time. Karter brought a soccer ball and played in the field for a little bit, Kimble danced around the equipment and Koltyn kept me on my toes.

TUESDAY
Today we got a surprise visit from Stephanie and her kids (the Pratt Family). Her boys really wanted to play our X-Box because theirs is not working right now. But they also took time to play with their cousins. I found all the kids in the toy room- except Parker who was taking his turn on the video game. Sophie kept finding pacifiers in the baby toy box and was loving it. The kids were so sad to see them leave.

WEDNESDAY
Today we were invited to Mother Nature's Farm in Gilbert with my sister's work group. While waiting for everybody to arrive we tried to get a picture of all the kids in the pumpkin patch. It didn't work well, but at least we tried and kept the kids occupied for a little bit.

After the hay ride, we looked at all the farm animals. The cow was huge and the goats were trying to eat the grass on the other side of the fence. The big pigs were covered in mud and munching on pumpkins. The kids spent the most time at the chicken coop. They thought that the chickens needed to eat some straw, but the chickens disagreed.

Koltyn was not as into decorating his pumpkin as the other kids were. He preferred to use it as a ball instead. Every time I would give it to him to hold, he threw it on the ground and laughed.

Family picture before heading over to the hay maze. (Kimble was super distracted for some reason while we were at the farm. I don't think that she was looking at the camera in any of the pictures we took.)

The kids got a little lost in the hay maze. It took a while for them to find their way out. Following each other around didn't help. Dallin finally found his way out first and then went back in to help the other kiddos make their way to the exit.

Our three little pumpkins...

THURSDAY
Today was laundry day. Koltyn was my little helper, well kind of. He really just kept the baskets full {of himself} while I folded and put away clean clothes.

FRIDAY
We didn't do much today. We did, however, take a long trip to Home Depot with Kevin. After dinner Karter got out the Legos and started creating. This was one of his favorites!

Football Party

{First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!}

Saturday was Spencer's first birthday party out in Surprise. Keith and Bev always do a great job on parties for their kids and we are so glad that we were able to make our way out there. The theme of the party was football (Cardinals, of course). Spencer looked so cute in his Larry Fitzgerald jersey and face paint!

The bouncer was a big hit as always. Karter and Jamie were so cute jumping together. Our kids have never spent so much time in the bouncer before. Except Koltyn, he wasn't too fond of the bouncer and spent his time throwing balls around the yard.

Keith made this awesome mini football field and goal post. The kids (and the big boys) had a great time kicking field goals and throwing the ball through the posts.

Koltyn was in heaven with all the balls to play with and just simply being outside. He was just a little bit of a ball hog!

This was Kimble's favorite game. Although, she really just ran around (out of bounds) without even trying to take flags from anyone else.

{Hailey, Kylie and Jacie}

Spencer is ready and waiting for his cake...

...which disappeared quickly. Good job little guy!

Had to include a picture of the proud papa. Keith is such a goof ball (in a good way) and he did a great job playing the role of referee.

Shopping With The {Little} Girls

After the birthday party, Sharon took Kimble and Hailey (the new kindergartners) shopping for new school clothes. She invited Bev and myself to help her pick out clothing that the girls would like. It was such a great experience for the little girls to spend time with each other, especially since we live in opposite corners of the valley. They walked around the mall holding hands most of the time... so cute! After getting several outfits each (awesome!) we even went to dinner at Red Robin, yum!
Thank you, Sharon, for a wonderful evening! Kimble had a great time and really enjoyed it all. What a great help it will be to have a few more clothes that she can wear to school or just for play.

{school} Picture Day

Today is picture day at school for Kimble. Because I didn't want to pay the crazy price the photographer is charging, I snapped my own picture of Kimble before she went to school. After all, why pay for a picture that I have not even seen and may not even like? By taking my own picture, I was able to get a lasting memory of my kindergartner without the high prices. Plus, they usually have picture day twice a year, so I'll buy pictures next time.

Of course the boys wanted in on the action too and started to ham it up for the camera. Karter kept posing in different positions and Koltyn just crept closer to the camera. They even wanted to keep taking pictures, but it was time to take Kimble to school.
