Another Birthday

Yesterday I turned the big 25! I know that I am really still young, but Kevin keeps telling me that I'm so old now. To our surprise, a bright pink flamingo popped up in our front yard. The Relief Society has a little birthday quote involving flamingos, so I guess this was their way of saying Happy Birthday.

Kevin got me these awesome canisters. We found them at Ashley Furniture and thought they would fit perfectly on the entry table. He is also painting the kids' rooms for me. Kimble and Karter "signed" a cute card and helped blow out the candles.

So, another birthday is in the books. Maybe next year Kimble will actually believe me when I tell her it's my birthday. She was sure that I was just kidding until she saw the cake and candles. Silly girl!!

Which One?

So, we have narrowed down our baby name list to just two. Kevin and I each have our favorite and no one is giving in. We want to know what you think? Which name do you like better?

Getting Out

It was so nice to head to the park this morning to meet up with some friends from Morningside Ward (the ward we were just split from). Kimble was at school, so it made things a little easier for me to go. I was able to socialize without feeling totally awkward, too. It was great to see Jessica and Kalyn again. Plus, Kalyn brought suckers, so Karter was really happy to be there.

Changes

We decided that the best way to arrange the kids, with a baby on the way, would be to put Kimble and Karter in the same room and keep the baby in his own. I really needed some change last week so I went ahead and made the move. Kimble is currently sleeping in a blue room and the pink room is now full of toys (Do you think we have enough toys, I think we need to donate a few to the nursery).

So far, the kids love sharing a room! I hope to get paint for my birthday so that Kimble doesn't have to sleep in a blue room and the new baby boy won't be in a pink room. Kevin's parents are also giving us a twin bed that Karter will soon be sleeping in. I am a little worried about getting him to stay in the bed, but I really don't want him sleeping in the crib still once that baby arrives. I will post new pictures once the changes are complete.

One Ring Down

Kevin took advantage of his extra day off yesterday to create a ring around one of the trees. We feel like we have to get tree rings in before we can put down sod or seed. So we got another load of rip-rap and some sand, then Kevin got to work (I was going to help, but I really didn't feel well and watched from the sidelines, giving suggestions for rock placement). He really did a great job at not getting frustrated when he had to go through about a dozen rocks before finding one that fit just right next to the previous. Hopefully he can get the other tree ring done Friday, I am sure he will put that chore on the top of his "to do" list.

I Know, I Know...

I know that it has been an entire week since we posted anything. That just goes to show how boring we really are. Here is just a short update:
Kevin- still working hard at the town and in the backyard
Kristi- having a hard time sleeping and dealing with a baby who can't stop kicking
Kimble- doing great at school and loves that she now shares a room with Karter
Karter- becoming more active everyday and putting everything in his mouth again
Baby Boy- still no name, sitting breech and arriving on May 18th

A Great Day at the Zoo

Friday was a perfect day for the zoo. Since my membership expires next month, we decided it may be our last chance to visit for a while (just because it is not around the corner anymore). It was our longest stay ever, I think. We were there for almost 3 hours! We walked the entire zoo, I suppose it made for great exercise.

Kimble was so excited to find this big rock to climb. She insisted that we take a picture of her on top of it.

Karter was sure that it was his job to press all the information buttons. It was so cute to see him stretch to reach the switch.

Karter also thought that it was his job to help push the stroller. Of course, he couldn't actually reach the handle, so he simply pushed the cooler inside the basket underneath. At one point he had to stop and check the wheels.

Boy was Kimble happy to find the horses. She kept switching back and forth between the two wooden horses. She really wished that they would move or make some noise though. It was hard to get her down so we could see the rest of the farm animals.

Our last stop was to pet the goats. Kimble insisted that they were sheep and was upset when I tried to correct her. I am pretty sure it was even more fun than the horses for her- shocker! Kevin said that when he told her it was time to leave, she told him, "But I didn't pet all of them yet."

It's Definitely A...

BOY!! When the technician turned on the 3-D image, I had a feeling that it might be a little boy (I thought: "The baby looks just like it's dad!"). But because I was so sure that it was going to be a girl, I dismissed the thought. The baby was either excited to be seen or angry to be bothered, so it seriously just kept moving and moving. So, we weren't able to really tell until the last minute (after I rolled on each side and was jiggled to move the cord) and there was no doubt. I'll admit that I was a little sad that I was totally wrong. I even cried when we got to the car. But really, I am happy that the baby is healthy and right on track with his growth. We only had a girl's name ready for the baby, so if anyone has any idea for a great boy's name that starts with K, let me know.

Leaves Are Falling

Saturday afternoon, the Johnson gang gathered for family pictures. My sister, Heather, takes great pictures (she has always taken ours) and was our photographer. She spotted this great tree with falling leaves. Can you guess where we are?... the temple! It was so amazing to find such an awesome setting in the valley. She posted a few "unedited" photos on her blog, so I copied a couple over to our blog. I cannot wait to see the end result.

20 Down...

I have made it to the half way mark with being pregnant!! Luckily, I have gotten some energy back and the painful headaches have disappeared. Unfortunately, I now have heartburn (yuck!) and have to deal with pains from an expanding stomach. I have started to wear some maternity clothes, really just some shirts. Plus, the baby is kicking. For me, it takes some actual movement before I actually feel pregnant, so it is a welcome feeling. More exciting than anything else, we get to see the baby this week! My ultrasound it set for Thursday afternoon and I can only hope that the baby will cooperate. Look for a post later this week for some baby gender news- hopefully.

Happy New Year

This New Year's Eve we spent the night at my parent's house. We had tons of fun with the whole family playing the Wii. Kimble started the year with a new experience, her first time playing the Wii. The Pratt's brought over a new game called Outdoor Adventure (I think) that involved total physical activity. It was so funny to watch her run in place as fast as possible. She was so proud of herself for finishing the race! Karter was so sure he needed to help her run, so he also hung out on the mat.
