Handyman

Saturday, Kevin spent most of the hot day working on the car. A few weeks ago, after changing the battery in the Trailblazer, the A/C stopped working- actually, cold air was coming out of the vents for the back seat and the passenger side while hot air was coming out of the driver's side vents, including at the feet. He was finally able to get parts through his brother and thought that he would take on the project himself. He even rigged up his own tool for the job (the space he had to get to was pretty tight). Also, thank goodness for the Internet. Thanks to a certain chat room about Trailblazers and Envoys he was able to get all the help he needed to be successful. It is so great to have ice cold air blowing from all the vents again. Thank you, Honey!!

Strike a Pose

I was taking pictures of Koltyn the other day and Karter decided he had to join in. He just started posing all over the couch... hilarious! He doesn't always want to have his picture taken lately, so it was fun to catch him in action.

Watermelon in the Rain

Don't you just love the rainy summer evenings?

2 Months Old

New Stroller

After waiting 2 long years, I finally got my double stroller. About a month ago, Kevin said that it was okay to order the stroller that I found online for a great deal. Then, he found a new lawn mower marked way down at Home Depot, which is what he wanted for his birthday, and we ended up spending the stroller money on this great deal instead. Because he felt so bad, he let me use the money he got for his birthday to buy the stroller I have been eyeing for so long. Luckily, it was still on sale and it has been so nice to have.

Scottsdale, Arizona

This summer we decided to take a "stay-cation" in Scottsdale. Saturday morning marked the beginning of our adventure with 3 kids, the hottest weekend of the year so far and no A/C from the front air vents in the car. We were determined to have a good time, sweaty or not.
Our first stop was to get Kevin some new work clothes. Luckily, the Van Heusen outlet store near Superstition Springs Mall is closing so he was able to get 80% off...total score!! While he was roaming the store, I let the kids play on the mechanical rides outside the store. Kimble, of course, loved the horse. Karter, on the other hand, really wanted to ride the elephant.

We treated the kids to all-you-can-eat pizza, bread sticks and salad at CiCi's Pizza for lunch. Kevin used to eat at CiCi's quite often when he was on his mission in Georgia. So, he was happy when they opened in the valley and is usually the one that wants to eat there whenever we are in the area. The kids love it too!

After checking into our resort (yes, not just a hotel but a resort booked through Priceline) and cooling off, we headed down the street to Scottsdale Fashion Square. We actually had a couple stores that we needed to hit, but neither of them were located in the mall. So instead, we found the kid's play area and let Kimble and Karter explore for a while. It took forever to get to it though... that mall is definitely NOT stroller friendly! We soon had to find a place for dinner. We drove around for a long time trying to find a sit down restaurant that actually sounded good and wasn't way expensive. I finally just pulled into 5& Diner, not remembering how much I don't like it. The meal was not great and the service was pretty bad as well. We were, however, able to get a cute picture of Kimble wearing the hat Kevin designed.

We finally ended up at the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, just down the street from our hotel. The weather was still pretty hot, but we really enjoyed it. We got our tickets and headed straight for the carousel. Kimble just couldn't wait to ride the horses. Karter could really care less. Then we jumped on the train. Karter rode backwards with Kevin, so he ended up twisted for most of the ride. We then walked around to check out all the trains, rode the carousel one more time and had ice cream to cool off. We loved visiting the train park and want to go again once the weather is better if anyone wants to go with us!

What a day! The pool was our last stop before bed time and just what we needed. We even got to sleep in, which for us means getting up after 7am. Kimble was the last one to wake up, so I was able to get a picture of her curled up on the end of the bed instead of at the top and under the covers. I was worried about Karter falling off the very high bed during the night, so I lined the side of the bed he was on with chairs and pillows.

We had such a great time on our mini vacation. We hope to have another one after school starts down in Tucson, an area we really haven't explored. Next summer we plan to visit some Utah state parks and family history sites with Kevin's family and can't wait!

Number 6

Hard to believe, but Kevin and I have now been married for 6 years! Where did the time go? I remember clearly kneeling across the alter from my best friend to become eternal companions. We had no idea that 6 years together would mean having 3 kids and loving life in San Tan Valley. I love you Kevin... thank you for always being so loving and happy!!

Rodeo

Last night we returned to the Horse Park finally. They had a little rodeo of sorts going on (and you can't beat free), so we thought it would be a good time to visit again. We first watched some barrel racing, then roping and ended by watching little kids, probably Kimble's age, riding sheep instead of bulls. We even got to chat with Julie Butler, one of our friends from our previous ward.

The weather wasn't ideal, but a little breeze definitely helped keep us there longer. Kimble did not want to head home one bit and was even crying as we walked back to the car. I guess we need to see the horses more often.

Brothers

Karter has started asking me to hold the baby. He doesn't actually call Koltyn by name, he just calls him "Baby." It surprises me how big Koltyn looks when they are sitting together and how small Karter looks. Karter has been such a great helper and big brother. Kimble has been a fantastic helper, too. I love that they are all getting along so well right now (I can only hope that it will continue as they get older).

Jump and Shout

Last week we went to the Jump and Shout Play Center at Riverview with the Pratt Family and some of their friends. We were lucky enough to have the entire place to ourselves. The kids had a blast!!

Koltyn's Blessing: Kimble's P.O.V.

Instead of coercing everybody into letting us take their picture we let Kimble be our blessing luncheon photographer. People just seem to be more relaxed when a child is the one behind the camera. Here are just some of the 100+ pictures that she snapped, including a self-portrait (with very little editing on my part):
