Birthday #26
(Yes, I am still young enough that I am not ashamed to post my age.) Wednesday started with a present from Kevin before he left for work. He thought that I could enjoy it during the day... Season 5 of The Office (I now have the complete collection and I am super excited about that), the 2010 Grammy cd (which is awesome), some candy, a new sponge (he used my last one to clean paint off his hands) and a Discover gift card (which will hopefully go toward new clothes). Kevin had already out-done himself at this point. Thanks Honey!!
Thanks to my sister, Kevin and I were able to go out to dinner at Uncle Bears. It was so nice to be able to enjoy our meal without telling the kids to keep their voices down and to stop touching each other. We tried to take our sweet time, but found ourselves back home all too soon.
We watched the Pratt boys play the X-Box for a little bit before getting back to tradition and having some cake. Kevin made it himself and even decorated it with "trick" candles. The kids all thought that the sparkler affect was pretty cool.
I even got to go out for frozen yogurt with a couple of gals from the ward. But before I left, I made sure to get a picture with my sister, Stephanie. She was so willing to come all the way from Mesa to watch the kids for us. Plus, she made some chocolate chip cookies for us. Yum! Thank you to everyone who helped to make this birthday so WONDERFUL!!

Off To A Slow Start
Well, we are now into the second week of 2010 and not much has been going on. We don't even have any more pictures to share. I think that we are all sort of stuck in a rut and need something to do. So, I have decided that I would like to share my "talent" for digital card design. I will be adding more cards to my other blog, including: birthday, birth announcements and Christmas cards.

Fiesta Bowl Parade
Saturday morning I took the kids downtown with my sister to watch the Fiesta Bowl Parade. (Kevin decided to stay home with Kolytn, so that he could get some things done around the house.) We were able to find a spot quickly, before a crowd formed behind us blocking the sidewalk. The parade soon began and we were all very excited. Kimble was loving all the horses and Karter jumped for joy as cool cars passed.
Unfortunately, the parade was much longer than I had anticipated. While snacks kept the kids busy for a little bit, Kimble and Karter soon became bored. Kimble kept herself entertained with shadow puppets and then coloring. Karter could not sit still, on the other hand, and was walking in circles around our chairs.
The moment we had come for finally came... Aaron and Parker walking the Westcor balloon! It was definitely the highlight of the parade to see someone we knew. Kimble, of course, was a little upset that she did not get to be in the parade too. (The camera started "acting up" for the pictures I really wanted, of course.)
Once the parade was over, we were disappointed there was not a big finale like we thought there would be, we took our time getting back to the car. The kids were even willing to get one more picture with me. Although the parade was too long to keep the kids' interests and it took up most of our day, I would say that it was worth it. From Ghost Busters and Star Wars to marching band after marching band (including Mountain View, GO TOROS!), the time spent with Kimble and Karter was a treat.

Ringing in 2010... Johnson Style
We got to spend New Year's Eve with the Johnson family this year. Kevin's mom had to work late, but we still took the opportunity to spend time in Peoria with some of our favorite people. There was plenty of food to snack on (pizza, nachos and yummy meatballs) and games to play. Not to mention GOOD company.
I realized Thursday night that I did not have a picture of Koltyn with his newest cousin, Spencer. They are 5 months apart, but still, Koltyn looks really big sitting next to him. It is fun that each of our kids has a cousin their same age on the Johnson side of our family.
We had the little ones celebrate early (we counted down to 10 o'clock). Keith, Kevin's brother, took charge and helped the kids set off their poppers. After hooting and hollering outside for a few minutes the kids had a parade around the house. They loved the horns Grandma had left for them.
We figured all the kids would be asleep at midnight, but we were 100% wrong! They all wanted to stay awake, just waiting for Grandma to get home from work. So we all celebrated again once midnight arrived. They didn't even want to go to bed and we finally had to make them lay down at 1am. Once the lights were off and the room was quiet they zonked right out. Friday morning proved to be a lazy one. Just hanging out, watching the parade and Food Network while Kevin and 3 of his brothers went to see Avatar. One way to know we had too much fun... the car ride home was VERY quiet. We are all pretty much exhausted (or just "austed" as Kimble loves to say)!
Happy New Year to everyone! We hope that 2010 will bring much happiness and good health to all our family and friends (we wouldn't mind some of that either).
